Central Training Institute (CTI) Courses

Craft Instructot Training Program
Objective
  1. To develop the skills required to analyse a trade syllabus and to plan and organise trade training in practical skills and related instructions.
  2. To provide training in the methods and applications of instruction for effective learning of trade skills together with techniques of evaluating the work of trainees.
  3. To design and administer criterion based tests.
  4. To promote a sense of responsibility for the proper up-keep of the equipment, tools and other materials entrusted to the care of the instructor, and the ability to maintain and operate the system of record-keeping in practice.
  5. To understand one’s deficiencies in the trade area (practical and the theoretical) and over-come their short-coming so that full technical competence is achieved.
  6. To encourage an appreciation for the need to keep abreast with current development both in the techniques of his trade and methods of instruction.
  7. To equip the instructor with an understanding of labour and management relationship for preparing his trainees for their entry and progress into their new careers in industrial environment.
Course Module
The one year Craft Instructor training programme is divided in four modules as follows:
  1. Trade Technology-I - 3 months
  2. Trade Technology –II - 3 months
  3. Engineering Technology - 3 months
  4. Training Methodology - 3 months
Trade Technology -I
This module is trade specific and covers basic components of the trade skills and theory.
Trade Technology –II
This module is also trade specific and comprises advanced components of the trade skills.

Training Methodology; Engineering Technology Modules are conducted for above Trade Groups only.


Engineering Technology:
In this module, trainees have to appear for two examination papers, viz., Engineering Drawing and Workshop calculation & Science for a pass in this module. The Draughtsman (Civil), RODA and Draughtsman (Mechanical) trades will have two papers, one in Workshop Science and the other in Workshop Calculation.


Training Methodology:
In this module, trainees are taught the principles of teaching, learning psychology, Workshop administration, Motivation, Use of computers and audio-visual aids in teaching, preparation of lesson plan, demo plan, written instructional materials etc.
Who can Apply?
Any candidate who possesses the following qualifications can apply for Engineering Technology, Training Methodology and Trade Technology-I in the relevant trade.
a. Academic qualification: A pass in Matriculation or equivalent.
b. Technical Qualification:
  • A pass in National Trade Certificate (or)
  • A pass in National Apprenticeship Certificate (or)
  • A pass in Degree or Diploma in relevant branch of Engineering in the concerned trade.
  • Minimum 14 Years. There is no upper age limit.
How to Apply
Advertisement for Craft Instructor course are given in ‘Employment News’ and in the leading Daily newspapers in the months of June/July of every year.
All the four modules will commence in the months of August, November, February and May of every year. Before the commencement of the each module admissions will be given as per the guidelines issued by the NCVT.
Applications can be had from The Principal, Central Training Institute for Instructors, # 10, Alandur Road, Guindy, Chennai - 600032 by sending a request along with self-addressed stamped envelope. Applications can also be downloaded from the CTI website.
Attested copies of all Certificates must accompany the application form. In case of sponsored candidates, a sponsorship certificate in the prescribed format from the employer indicating all the relevant details and duly endorsed by the RJD or competent authority of Directorate of Employment & Training of their respective state should be enclosed along with the application for consideration under sponsored candidate category.
Preference in Admission
Candidates deputed by the Directorates of State/ Union territories in charge of Craftsmen Training scheme will be given first preference.
The next preference will be given to the candidate sponsored by the affiliated ITIs (for the candidates of affiliated trades only), Government of India Departments, Any other Department of State governments/UT, Public Enterprises (Central/State), Industrial organizations.
Remaining vacant seats, if any, will be filled by private candidates based on merit only.
Short Term Courses
Short Term Courses on development and uses of Audio-visual Aids
A specialized AVA training programme on “Development, Use and Application of AV Aids under MRC scheme is conducted for a duration of two weeks .
Objectives
To explain the advantages of types of media which can support learning.
To demonstrate the use of different audio-visual aids.
To prepare charts, transparencies, slides & models. To use computer for power point presentation.
To produce Video and use Non-linear editing techniques for audio Visual presentations.
Duration: Two Weeks
Target Group: Instructional staff of industrial Training Institutes deputed from various State Governments and industries.
Courses Contents: Role of teaching aids in Vocational training, learning principles, handling of modern Audio-Visual aids, Computer and its application in teaching, Internet and its uses, Video Production and Editing techniques etc.
