A Skill Loan Scheme was launched by the hon'ble Prime minister on 15-07-2015 with a view to support youth who wish go through skill training programmes in the country . Bank of India has been the first bank to notify such a skill loan scheme.
A copy of the Bank of India Skill Scheme is enclosed. This is based on a Model skill Loan Scheme circulated by the Indian Banks Association (IBA) vide circular No. CE/209 dated 10-07-2015 (copy-enclosed). This Skill Loan Scheme replaced pearlier IBA Model Loan Scheme for Vocation Education and Training. The model Skill Loan Scheme guidelines and applications forms have been simplified with a view to reduce paper work and ensure sanction and prompt disbursement of skill loans.
While the other banks are being requested to finalise their Skill Loan Schemes, based on the IBA Model Skill Loan Scheme. It is requested that wide publicity is given to the Skill Loan Sheme so that larhe number of youth could be mobilized to take this facility. Such a sill loan would be particularly useful for youth who undergo medium to long term training prorammes for which grant/reward support that generally available is onsufficient.
